This is the time of year when families and friends traditionally gather to celebrate the passing of the longest night, and to reaffirm commitments that will get them through the tough winter months ahead. The days will be bleaker and colder, but the sun will shine a little longer each day until at last spring arrives.
This year, again, we find ourselves facing an additional challenge, dealing with a pandemic. The surge of cases brought on by the OMICRON variant has again imposed limits to our ability to gather safely. But that does not mean we cannot celebrate. Let’s not allow ourselves to sit around and mope. Celebrate with the people you have. Call those who you would prefer to gather with.
Do not lose hope. Just as the days are getting longer, the end of this pandemic is out there. Maybe it is too far to see now, but the end is out there and we will get there.
