Finding enough time to train is always a challenge. To make the most out of your limited training time you must always act with intention.
Think about two people going to the mall on a Saturday morning. One has no idea what they will do. They just walk around and see what comes up. The other person has a number of objectives. New shoes for work. A gift for a friend’s upcoming birthday. A new toothbrush. This person has made a list, sequenced to minimize the amount of walking necessary. They get in, and get it done. They act with intention.
Ideally you should know the goals for the current period and the upcoming workout. Why are you doing this workout at this time? If you are not sure, ask your coach.
Before the workout, state your intent to perform at your best. If you hesitate, ask yourself what is holding you back, and then act to resolve that concern.
During cooldown and flex activity, review how you felt, what went well and what did not. Acknowledge yourself for the work you did. Be grateful for having the opportunity to do the work.
Finish up by making a few notes in your training diary on TrainingPeaks. What happened, and what could have been better. Share for yourself, and for your coach.
