A good relationship between athlete and coach is necessary for success. To that end, it helps the athlete to know something about the coach’s philosophy. In the coming series of posts I aim to lay out my coaching principles, my goal being to shorten the time required to get to know me.
There is one overarching principle - finding joy in the work. Joy cannot rely on winning. A great performance is certainly cause for celebration, and there will be joy in that. The key to remaining in the sport year after year is finding joy in each and every activity. Every workout, every day. Without it, none of the other principles mean anything.
